At Cornerstone Housing Foundation, our work is driven by the urgent reality facing our neighbors every day. Recent reports confirm what we see in our communities: Connecticut faces a severe shortage of affordable housing, a crisis that places an impossible burden on families and contributes to a tragic rise in homelessness.

The scale of the challenge is staggering. According to a new report from the National Low-Income Housing Coalition, for every three of our state's "extremely low-income" households, there is only one affordable rental home available. This forces 73% of these families to spend more than half their income just to keep a roof over their heads, leaving little for food, healthcare, or their children's futures.

These are not just statistics; they represent the daily struggle of families in our communities. This is the challenge that Cornerstone Housing Foundation was created to confront head-on.

While there is no single policy that will solve this crisis, we know the solution must include direct action. Our mission is to build that solution. We are dedicated to the development and preservation of high-quality, affordable homes that provide the stability people need to thrive. By creating these homes, we create the foundation for stronger families and a more equitable Connecticut for everyone. This is not just our work; it is our commitment to the communities we serve.
